Atturaif Visitor Centre

In effort to bolster Saudi’s tourism, Diriyah Gate Development Authority is developing the region surrounding the UNESCO World Heritage site, Salwa Palace - the original home to the first Saudi state. The visitor center is meant to give people an initial taste of what they can expect on their journey through the ancient ruins and living museum. The building is connected to the UNESCO site by a bridge, giving tourists the ultimate view between the old world and the new.

The visitor centre is a blend of Najd influence and modern technology. It has skylights cut through the warm wood ceiling that bounces light off of the battered-stone walls, filling the space with light similar to the palace.
