Michael Kim’s practice blends artistic vision with technical rigor. This combination has been realized in a range of projects, from the most basic to the most lyrical.

Since completing studies at London’s Architectural Association, he has worked with world-recognized architects including Archigram’s Ron Herron and Moshe Safdie. He has been involved in projects as varied as Oshio-Matagota urban design (Hemeji, Japan); Magnetic Levitation Demonstration Project (Orlando Florida); "Imagination” Co. Headquarters (London, England) and Ben Gurion International Airport (Tel Aviv, Israel). Most recently, as an associate with Moshe Safdie and Associates, he served as project architect for the design of the acclaimed addition to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts.

Since 1992, he has also conducted a successful independent practice, completing houses in North Carolina, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

A respected design teacher, lecturer and critic, he has held adjunct teaching positions in Massachusetts and Michigan, and has lectured in both academic and professional events. Widely published, his work has been included in Architectural Review, RIBA Journal, L’Arca. His Lake House project was featured in Metropolitan Home in spring 2004.

Prior to attending the Architectural Association, Michael Kim received a Bachelor’s of Science in Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition, his study at Boston’s Museum School in sculpture has been a consistent influence in his work.
