Dover Legacy

My proposal will introduce a number of positive aspects to the Dover area which include, a beautiful sculpture which is both interactive and seductive. Drawing the eye from both Dover Castle and the High street, ‘legacy’ will involve people in current events and ceremonies (i.e. Christmas and           olympics). My proposal does not include any type of external shading or seating area, but what it does offer is a ‘petal’. This ‘Petal’ concept is based on a simple idea that flowers shed their petals over their lifecycle. the same principle is adapted here with the larger ‘Leaves’ housing the smaller ‘petals’. The ‘leaves’ will slowly fall away over a period of time to release the smaller petals which interact with the community and visitors from a far.

The ‘petal’ is a very light (plastic?) inflatable with pancho included which can be relased            from the leaves at certain times depending on occasion. These inflatables/ponchos can then be used as seats or depending on weather ponchos. Legacy contains 12 leaves at any one time which are replaced once empty. Each leaf will hold approximately 40-50 ‘petals’ which can be used as advertisements for occasions such as  olympics etc. Thus creating a product which is spread on a large scale across Kent, France and with any luck Further a field.

Hopefully this will create a legacy by which people will remember by (i.e.‘that time in dover when we watched the London Olympics’)
