My name is Kyle Parnau. I am a professional artist and designer with an education in architectural design. After studying architecture, I followed an opportunity to work in the event design industry. I really enjoy using design as a form of problem solving, and then creating impactful visualizations for clients.

Outside of work I enjoy endurance cycling and am scuba certified.

Employment

Catalyst Exhibits, Chicago, IL, US, Senior Designer

Engaged in all aspects of the design, marketing, sales and construction process. Built strong relationships with clients throughout the design process from initial design inputs to final presentations - selling both the design, and Catalyst’s capabilities. Worked in both Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine 4 to design and visualize 3D experiences. Visualizations took the form of static renderings and presentations as well as exciting animated cinematics. Worked within strict budgets and short deadlines, coordinating with estimators, engineers, and project managers to ensure quality and design integrity of the final product. Had the responsibility to take on the largest pitch projects and manage our program accounts across a multitude of industries.

Education

Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Milwaukee, WI, US, BArch, Architectural Design

MIAD's architecture and interior design program gave graduates an education in multiple scales of design. Most importantly, graduates of this program have an understanding of the relationship between human interaction and space. Through various projects of increasing scale, we created dynamic and experimental solutions to projects, with a focus on the application of design principles. Furthermore, an attention to composition and articulation of projects was very important. A good foundation of building codes, structural engineering/building types, and a wide exposure to cad, modeling, and visualization softwares was learned.

Secondarily, I found designing and building fine furniture in the woodshop to be an incredibly rewarding experience throughout my time at MIAD as I have always enjoyed working with my hands as an artist.
