Inspired by the concept of the Stylites; a sect of Christian ascetics of the early Byzantine Empire who mainly chose to live their adult lives atop pillars, physically retracted, ensconced in thought, this residence creates a strong hierarchy of public and private space. By ascending the Stylos one transitions from the public interaction to personal workspace and devoted private space.
