Built in the serene landscape of the Agoura Hills, this net-zero, LEED platinum office building exemplifies passive solar design and whole systems thinking to dramatically reduce energy use while maintaining indoor comfort and spectacular views of the mountains.

As the lead daylighting design expert and sustainability advisor throughout the design process, my responsibilities were to work closely with the architect (ZGF) and engineers (WSP) to design daylighting apertures and shading devices for the interior and exterior to optimize daylight distribution, eliminate glare, accentuate architectural features through redirected sunlight and passively reduce cooling loads throughout the year. This involved detailed 3D modeling and 3D daylight analysis and review of design and construction drawings. In addition, input was given for space / furniture configuration, glazing specifications, and location / size of interior and exterior glazing.
