In May of 2012, I graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree from Virginia Tech. I currently live in Columbus, OH and work full-time as a Project Coordinator for Legat Kingscott.
I have always had a desire to positively impact the lives of others. For me, architecture offers an incredible opportunity to gain a greater sensitivity to the needs of people, and through this sensitivity, ultimately promote the well-being of the individual. With further exposure to architecture as a professional practice, I hope to continue to challenge my understanding of design and its potential for dialogue with societal issues.
Legat Kingscott, Columbus, OH, Project Coordinator
Member of a 6-person office in Columbus, with a focus on the K-12 and higher education market. Assist in all aspects of office work, including but not limited to design development and execution of construction documents, project management and construction administration, completion of record drawing sets, and documentation of facility assessments. Projects range from small interior renovations to new 75,000 SF academic facilities, primarily executed with Revit Architecture. Revit responsibilities include model construction, detailing, creation of unique families, and model upkeep.
M/I Homes, Columbus, OH, US, Construction Associate/Supervisor
Within my role, I directly supervised the proper execution of residential construction techniques within multiple Columbus subdivisions, involving the coordination and scheduling of trades/vendors, analysis of construction documents, enforcement of safety regulations, and the resolution of all issues that arose during construction in the field.
Owens Corning, Granville, OH, US, Intern - Building Specifications Team
As a member of the newly formed Building Specifications Team, I conducted interviews (by phone and in person) with key architects and specifiers throughout Ohio in order to gain insights into the architectural community's expectations of building material suppliers. I developed an extensive database to catalogue this information and presented my findings graphically to both my team and general colleagues.
Owens Corning, Granville, OH, US, Contractor - Roofing Essentials (TM) Team
I was responsible for the development of full-scale prototypes of hip and ridge ventilation units, understanding the behavior of the units between roof pitches as well as the physical joints between the vents. I presented my work to a focus group of roofing contractors and later documented the feedback and physical attributes of the vent for future fabrication (Record of Invention held for joint mechanism between units).

I was responsible for the design development and digital presentation materials for a church proposal in Houston, TX. In addition, I created a digital model and presentation images for a locally proposed residential project.

Pella Prize for Excellence in Architecture Undergraduate Thesis, Honorable Mention
Pella Prize is the highest individual honor for undergraduate architecture seniors at Virginia Tech. Each student within the fifth year class of the Architecture Program (approximately 100 students) is asked to nominate multiple peers who they feel have created a strong body of work throughout the thesis year. These selections are ranked, and the list of the top twenty thesis selections is released to the class. The top ten then participate in an additional pin-up to compete for the Pella Prize.
Virginia Tech Winner - Virginia Society AIA Competition, 1st Place
The Virginia Society AIA Competition is an annual state-wide competition, held over the course of one weekend. Within Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture, entries are primarily provided by third year undergraduates, with additional entries provided by fourth and fifth year architecture students. As a third year student, my submission was selected by faculty as the school’s first place entry and was advanced to the state level of judging.
