About

Hello everyone! I'm Hao Wang, an architect by profession and a lover of design and sustainability by passion. I started my educational journey at the University of Arizona, where I earned my Bachelor of Architecture. This was a period where I truly began to develop my understanding and love for the field.

Following my undergraduate studies, I decided to further expand my knowledge base and enrolled in the MARCH2 program at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). This program was challenging and offered a new perspective on architectural design and its role in society. However, after a year, I felt the need to explore a different approach and transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles, to pursue an MSAUD (Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design).

This transition allowed me to deepen my understanding of the urban fabric and the critical role of architectural design in shaping our cities and communities. It was a perfect amalgamation of my interests, bridging the gap between architecture, urban design, and sustainability.

In 2020, I had the unique opportunity to participate in the prestigious Solar Decathlon competition. I was part of an incredible team and we focused on the Mix-Use Multifamily Division. Our hard work paid off when we secured the first place in the competition. This experience not only validated our efforts but also reaffirmed my belief in the power of sustainable design.

Throughout my journey, I have sought to combine creativity, practicality, and a deep commitment to sustainability. I am excited about the future and look forward to contributing to the creation of sustainable, functional, and inspiring spaces for all.

Teams collaborate on a residential or commercial design project for one or two academic semesters, with the competition culminating each April at the Solar Decathlon Competition Event. The Competition Event provides an opportunity for teams to present their designs to expert jurors, network and build connections with industry professionals, and share ideas with other Decathletes from around the world. Winning teams are recognized with awards on an international stage and winning design projects are shared through Solar Decathlon and U.S. Department of Energy channels. The Design Challenge builds on the 20+ year legacy of the Solar Decathlon in creating a global community of current and future professionals dedicated to tackling the most complex problems facing the buildings industry.
