HaysMed is the primary provider of tertiary care in the high plains of Western Kansas. The 132 bed hospital is undergoing extensive improvements that began with a $5 million site development package that set the stage for many core additions as well as upgrades for patient access, way-finding, and parking. The current $30+ million project includes design of a new outpatient and medical office building. It will provide needed growth in both the outpatient surgery and services areas as well as provide expansion space for the Cardio-Vascular Outpatient Clinics. A key element of this work will be to directly tie the MOB to the DeBakey Heart Institute Building. Renovation also includes the outpatient chemical-radiation oncology center, a new Women’s Imaging Center as well as a Birthing Center. Another master planned improvement is to include complete renovation of the four-story patient tower building by restructuring all nursing support spaces and making all patient rooms ADA compliant.
