FSA: Tuition free architectural education launched June 1, 2017  

As part of the Free School of Architecture's (FSA) ongoing 2017 public lecture series, founder Peter Zellner will hold a dialogue with leading Los Angeles based architect Edwin Chan on the topic of cross-disciplinary collaboration and creativity.

When: Saturday, June 17th 3-5 pm.

Where: The Container Yard in the Los Angeles Arts District.

About Edwin Chan:

Edwin Chan received his Bachelor of Arts from the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley, and Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard. After graduation, Edwin joined Frank O. Gehry & Associates in Los Angeles; and has collaborated with Mr. Gehry as Design Partner on many of the firm’s most significant cultural and institutional projects, including the Opus Residential Tower in Hong Kong, China; an office building for Novartis International in Basel, Switzerland, The Danish Cancer Society Building in Aarhus, Denmark; the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris.

Edwin Chan has lectured both in the US and internationally, and has served as visiting professor of architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, UCLA, and was appointed the Howard Friedman Professor of Practice at UC Berkeley in Fall 2012. Edwin has been recognized with many awards and distinctions, including the Graham Foundation Grant for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, and the honor of “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” from the Republic of France.

In 2013, Edwin launched his independent architectural and design studio - EC3. Based in Los Angeles, EC3 is founded on the principle to Empower Cross-disciplinary Collaboration in Creativity, and embraces a vision for professional practice that transcends culture and geography. Edwin Chan’s experience overseeing the design and construction of more than 3,000,000 square feet of cultural, institutional, workplace, urban design, and residential projects informs EC3’s understanding of the practical and theoretical considerations of working projects worldwide. 

Edwin Chan is a licensed architect in the States of California and New York.
