13 Rose Street

The 13 Rose Street property was in a terrible state of decay. The home itself was condemned and set to be demolished in the coming months, leaving an empty scar in the middle of what could be a lovely area of Geneva, New York.

I knew from the beginning that I waned to create a park. Rose Street was packed with homes, with very little space between each building. Rather than add more to up the value of the neighborhood, why not subtract and create a public space.  The Geneva Hospital was located no more than 100 feet down the street, and having a park nearby could prove to be beneficial.

The next plan was how to incorporate the existing structure into the plan.  The installations used would not only bring a nice amount of color but also act as an instillation in which plant life could grow vertically. Think of it as a massive arbour which will bring a sense of seclusion and mystery to the park itself while also protecting the privacy of the neighbors.

The wonderful thing about the finalized plan was that it was expandable.  Many houses in the Rose Street Area were set to be demolished, so plenty of space was soon to open up meaning more of these parks could be constructed and connected together to create pathways around the neighborhood. Pathways, community gardens, artist installations, and much more, improving the lives of the citizens and increasing the value of the neighborhood.
