MILWAUKEE, WI, April 6, 2018 - Saint John’s On The Lake, 1840 N. Prospect Avenue, a retirement community on Milwaukee’s east side, now celebrating its 150th anniversary of service, will break ground on its Third Tower Expansion project April 13, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. The celebration will continue in the Cultural Arts Center and Gallery where dignitaries Mayor Tom Barrett and Department of City Development Commissioner Rocky Marcoux will offer remarks.

This 22-story, 422,000 square foot project will replace the 3-story building that opened in 1979. The first floor will include additional commons and amenities space. The second through fourth floors will contain expanded replacement spaces for the current 50 skilled care suites and 24 assisted living suites. The fifth floor will add 16 assisted living apartments providing daily living and nursing support. The Tower’s upper floors will feature 79 apartments for older adults living independently.

According to Renée Anderson, President of Saint John’s On The Lake, “This project will allow us to further realize our mission to ‘enrich the lives of older adults.’ We will be able to provide residents living in our skilled care and assisted living areas the highest quality housing and more efficient service as well as serve more older adults in our added assisted and independent living apartments.”

VJS Construction Services (www.vjscs.com) is the General Contractor for this project. The architectural firms are the award-winning Blitch Knevel Architects (www.blitchknevel.com) in collaboration with Eppstein Uhen Architects (www.eua.com).

Saint John’s roots date back to 1868 when the organization was founded as shelter services by women of the Episcopal Church. Today, Saint John’s is a non-profit organization with a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant community of more than 330 residents.
