The Brooklyn Plaza Center is a prototype work space and testing ground for the Department of Transportation's Plaza Program. This program is geared toward eliminating excess roadways in return for public spaces. Sparked by Mayor De Blasio's "Park Plan", DOT obtained the idea that every New Yorker should be within 10 minutes of open space. In order to achieve the 65 and counting plaza, DOT partner with select non-profit organizations and community groups. The Brooklyn Plaza Center provides a multitude of indoor and outdoor spaces to house the efforts of this creative alliance.
