In the past decade, Oakwood Community is facing the challenge of declining community activities. The matrix of single-family housing generates a homogeneous and static urban fabric. To reenergize the neighborhood, the proposed Oakwood Community Center aims to use “two tails” to create a landmark at the heart of Oakwood day and night. At the intersection of two tails lies the visitors’ entrance and the staff office. Along the two tails, the curved form guides visitors’ flow naturally to all community spaces, and eventually, arrives at the community swimming pool.
