About

David remembers being drawn to architecture as a child growing up in New England surrounded by beautiful colonial-era homes. After starting out in DC--absorbing its stunning Palladian architecture--a 1997 trip enamored him to San Francisco's rich architectural history, culture, and natural beauty. He spent the next decade refining his skills and perceptive capacity working for Bay Area notables David Gast (Gast Architects) and Sandy Walker (Walker & Moody) on custom projects in San Francisco, Napa and Hawaii. He began solo work in parallel in 2001, with a client base that still works with him today.

In 2008, David co-founded his first firm, developing a savvy design team that's still part of DAA. After six years of success and growth, David re-branded the residential studio as David Armour Architecture and spun off the commercial portion of the practice.

David learned early that forming trusted client partnerships is vital to producing work that’s insightful, supportive of life, and reflective of style, and he's kept that a cornerstone of DAA. He truly loves what he does and works to ensure collective vision and shared pride in the homes he creates. In his spare time, David delves into the arts, travel, skiing, baseball-watching and classic rock concerts, alongside his wife and teen daughter.
