I just accomplished my Master of Architecture degree in May 2020. Having the degree earned from the University of Michigan, I had been educated for architectural design and drawing while obtaining expertise and knowledge of the field. Through the program, I could train my eyes for detail and a keen sense of modern and green aesthetics. Also, during school my passion and interest allowed me to develop a wide range of skills dealing with various interdisciplinary design tools including ArcGIS, Unity, and Python.
My work experience includes long-term internships at PDI Global LLC, Junya Ishigami, and Neo Engineering and a short-term externship at bKL Architecture LLC. There, I was given the responsibility for completing professional site visits, producing detailed drawings and sketches, and developing design strategies.
I am adept at working under pressure and can function well in a team environment. Also, I’m proficient in the use of AutoCAD suites, and I used Autodesk Revit for some of my work in internships. I have verbal and nonverbal communication skills, with fluency in English, Korean - which is my first language -, and intermediate-level Japanese.

In the thesis year, with the theme of “Civic Futures,” the studio premised on the idea that humans build tools (including buildings and public spaces) to help them live together. As a studio, we took a look at technology which has accelerated and yet also holds great potential for rethinking many of the assumptions of the 20th century. I was challenged to design an “institution” operating at a neighborhood scale and providing public benefits of the design, set in a timeline that is explicitly 5-15 years from today.
Through the research, my project was driven to designing a mobility park in Seattle that helps autonomous vehicle fleets in the city be maintained. While interacting with surrounding conditions of the neighborhood, this project accommodates human use and AV maintenance in one space, demonstrating the possibility of bringing AVs into the city in a way that’s positive for mobility and urban needs alike.
