This residence was designed for a Japanese family in Hillcrest, CA that was to pay homage to the devastation brought forth by the tsunami natural disaster that terrorized Japan in 2011. The home was to be elevated above the existing structure so as to not take away from the neighborhood character, but by elevating the residence above it represents the ideology of the strength within the family. The design follows precedents of the Okuyama Apartments.
