Ballast Nedam Build & Development, Nieuwegein, NL, Work Preparation
I have worked at Ballast Nedam Building & Development Special Projects. Ballast Nedam had a coordinating role at project One XS and realized the transition to the central security at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Within this integrated project there are various cooperation contracts. The principal is Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the architect was Benthem Crouwel NACO, Royal HaskoningDHV was the constructor and Heijmans Utilities had realized the installations.
At this project, One XS at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport I was an Intern at Ballast Nedam. For this position I was an work preparation. I was responsible for the following activities:
• Taking care of drawings on execution level
• identifying and ordering different components for proceedings on the E and F terminal
• quality management, assignment data and all forms of verification within this project
• assist the implementation
Project One XS covers the restoration and peak in terminal E and F and for a part the transition between these terminals. This is achieved through a strict set of schedules, requirements, assumptions and preconditions. The most critical factors in this process are:
• Ensuring passenger flows during this operational process
• safety precaution
• nuisance limitation
• seamless connection for specific designed curtain wall that can easily absorb wind load and
aspirate impact.
All these factors together have to ensure the quality and on time deliverance of project One XS. The set-up and realization of this entire process fascinated me. And added significant value to my prospective career.
