Perkins Eastman, Los Angeles, CA, US, Design Technology Specialist
Brick McMenomy is a Design Technology Specialist at Perkins Eastman, where they specialize in parametric design and fabrication. Brick focuses on creating workflows which enable the use of parametric tools during schematic design, augmenting Perkins Eastman’s design capabilities. This includes implementing effective generative design strategies, and providing tools which facilitate parametric modeling.
Thrive International Program: Kustawi Project (TIPKUP), London, GB, Design & Development Consultant
With Thrive, I consulted on the ethical development of refugee communities in Nyarugusu, Tanzania and Dadaab, Kenya, and developed models for how evolutionary algorithms in architectural design could best serve inhabitants.
KTGY, Oakland, CA, US, Associate - Architectural Designer
At KTGY, a residential, US-based, architecture firm, I progressed from working on large-scale (200+ units), low-density residential developments in the great basin area of the United States, to large-scale, mid-density townhomes in the San Francisco Bay Area. In this time, I followed projects from schematic design through construction, gained experience with creating and approving complete construction document packages, and corresponded with city officials on the approval of schematic packages.
Walter Scott Perry, Los Angeles, CA, US, Designer
While working with Walter Scott Perry, we developed a conceptual scheme for made-to-order shipping container homes based in Los Angeles, California. The objective of this exercise was to create homes which could be easily constructed by its owners by limiting the materials to readily available waste and products which could be purchased at local stores.
Community Assessment of Renewable Energy & Sustainability (CARES), Berkeley, CA, US, Workshop Coordinator
The CARES (Community Assessment of Renewable Energy and Sustainability) foundation is a multidisciplinary team of researchers set on integrating technology, design, community, and sustainability. In my time at CARES, the team partnered with members of the Pinoleville Pomo Nation (PPN), a Native American tribe based in Ukiah, California. Community meetings were conducted with the PPN, and a platform for participatory design was created, allowing members to actively comment on and assess entries for an architectural competition as entries were being designed.
