Alice Fang is a Columbia University GSAPP student in the Masters of Architecture program expected to graduate in May 2021. She received her Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and Business Administration Minor from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018. During her senior year, she lived one year in Barcelona to study at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (ETSAV).

She currently works as a Teaching Assistant for the graduate-level design studio at GSAPP, co-leads the student organization LatinGSAPP, collaborates as an editor for Patio, and has most recently worked as a design intern at MODU, Brooklyn.



MODU, New York, NY, US, Design Intern

Collaborated on the design of a pandemic-responsive adaptable module that merges nature and technology. The initiative proposes the client, function, material, and construction that was successfully pitched to investors.

Contributed to the conceptual design through iterative massing proposals in Rhino/Enscape and drafted CD sets on AutoCAD for a residential project in Brooklyn that explores ideas of outdoor rooms.

Created mapping visual representations for a book that questions the boundaries of public spaces in NYC through the lens of current protests and the pandemic using GIS, Rhino, and Illustrator.

Assisted in mediating the vision of 10 first-year M.Arch students and the feedback of Prof. Blacksher requiring critical thinking and interpersonal communication.

Provided tutorials of software and fabrication tools, critiqued in deskcrits/pinups, coordinated the logistics and graphics for reviews, and sent debriefs after every help session held twice a week.

Led yearly travels to Heimtextil, Germany (International Trade Fair for Home and Contract Textiles) to advertise the value of the brand, select new products, and negotiate conditions with suppliers.

Mentored customers on fabrication techniques using laser cutting machines, vacuum forming machines, and 3D Printers.

Troubleshot technical machine issues while ensuring a positive and comfortable environment for customer’s safety and creativity.
