About

My creative process has taken on many forms and many mediums. I started, as most creatives do, with drawing. That is my foundation, and it is what led me to pursuing an architecture degree in college.

The decision to concentrate in the Urbanism track of the Architecture major has changed the trajectory of my learning slightly, by orienting my concerns towards city planning and supporting an understanding about the built environment that is scalar, interdisciplinary, and engaged with multiple mediums. Every  project I have worked through has informed why and how I make.

My particular interests within architecture include spatial justice, collective memory, and imaginative planning. Regardless of how my engagement with architecture continues, creating will remain a crucial part of my professional and personal life.

Education

Yale University, New Haven, CT, US, BArch, Architecture

My undergraduate studies have been characterized by exploration, and I look back on my coursework as reaching into many disciplines and applying it to my interest in the built environment. While there was a great deal of variety in my courses, there were common trends in the study of the arts and the study of the city. The most rewarding class I took was a cross-disciplinary course called Space, Time, and the African City, in which I engaged with issues of architectures of memory, representation politics, and post-colonial theory. I also used practical design and materials classes to give form to the theory in which I was most interested. In the writing of my thesis this year, I have examined the place in architecture for radical futures that are guided by Black thought and theory around placemaking, and given form through the practice of protest.
