"14 BDA students, guided by three instructors, partnered with Art Shanty Projects to design and build a new Welcome Shanty for this non-profit organization's annual Art Shanty Projects 2018 On-Ice Program — Art Shanty Projects board members estimate 40,000 visitors to the event over its four weeks on the ice."
The polycarbonate and wood frame structures make use of folding wall panels to direct foot traffic into the festival and block wind while hosting the survey necessary for the event staff for reporting their information. The clear walls of the enclosed structure allow for enough sunlight to replace propane heat and allow the building to be light enough to be disassembled and carried off the ice in panels.
