The NEXUS is multidisciplinary arts outreach aim to create skills, build character, and help established new businesses and art in the adjacent neighborhoods from the site. The Nexus is divided into two main program elements that can be categorized by public and private. The public spaces include commercial, a civil open area, and lush landscape that networks across the site. The private spaces include exhibition, creation space, artist in residence, and administration offices. The public spaces are on the ground level which provided an open place for rejuvenation through enaction with the Chicago River, and small commercial shops while the private areas of the program are lifted 25 feet off the ground. With the lift of private spaces, the small commercial shops can pass through uninterrupted which creates network between owner, clients, and local people to come to the site. The lifted public spaces allow for a major contrast between the public and private. The private areas are designed for a more intimated spaces where all people in the building can create bonds and skills. The creation spaces are open and allows interact between disciplines, and people who come to use services. The goal of the Nexus is to create rejuvenation throughout the learning, enjoying the environment, or working in the building complex.
