At the end of 2016, PID launched an initiative to comprehensively research the
neighbourhood around Innovation Factory Beirut (IF Beirut). IF Beirut is a reclaimed factory
that allows individuals, start-ups, and businesses to collaborate, create, and fabricate. IF
Beirut was a result of a previous PID initiative. With the aim of understanding the
environment around IF Beirut, PID mapped each business, identified land use clusters and
sectors, assessed infrastructure of roads and transportation systems, and located potential
areas for economic opportunity and urban uplift to improve street experience.
Throughout the project i was involved in research and mapping tasks, showing
confidence with both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as a range of other
architectural software such as AutoCAD and 3D Max. Additionally i worked on a number
of design proposals introducing urban furniture made from recycled material, in collaboration
with the design agency IZEM.
For my graduation project, i developed a future expansion proposal in collaboration
with PID and IF Beirut for an Innovation Factory Beirut Business Incubator/Accelerator
complex on a neighbouring plot.
