  • Bachelors degree a must; Masters a plus.
  • Ability to write well is critical. A good eye for design and presentation is very important and graphic skills are a highly preferred (facility with Adobe In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Individual must be hard-working, take ownership and have a high standard for presentation and preparation of materials.
  • Must be an organized professional who is motivated, curious, and passionate about interior design and architectural design to undertake marketing, business development, and proposal preparation.



Core activity of work involves working with the Interiors Discipline on a firm wide basis, working closely with the Interiors Firm Wide Marketing Manager and  supporting leadership across the firm (in addition to New York, locations include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and London). The Marketing Coordinator will work closely with the Interiors Design Studio, Firm Wide Marketing Department professionals and Partners, Directors, Associate Directors and Associates to develop materials to best position the studio, obtain new work and to identify and promote opportunities for new work.


General responsibilities include:

  • Preparing all aspects of interior architectural qualifications proposals and competitions.
  • Preparing brochures and other textual and visual materials.
  • Creating PowerPoint shows for interviews and other presentations.
  • Knowing and promoting the SOM portfolio of projects.
  • Writing about SOM’s designs with skill and creativity.
  • Identifying teams of sub consultants for projects, under the direction of others.
  • Implementing marketing strategy, under the direction of others.
  • Researching and Compiling strategic business development opportunities under the direction of others.
