Shlemmer+Algaze+Associates (SAA) an architectural firm specializing in the design of commercial office interiors and base building renovations currently has an opening for a Senior Interior Designer with experience in the office interiors (workplace) design.

This position requires 10 -- 15 years of interior architecture design experience and a very collaborative and holistic approach to projects. Possible candidates must be able to develop "design criteria" for projects. This includes programming and development of project goals; concept development and space planning to meet both functional and aesthetic criteria; development of three-dimensional architectural character, elevations, ceiling plans and lighting, and interior architectural elements; finishes and materials, colors, patterns, and graphics.
Senior Project Designer will work closely with the Design Principal and Project Manager to create and execute an appropriate design agenda to meet the project's programmatic, functional, budgetary, and aesthetic goals; work with and support the production team, communicate effectively, and lead and manage the design portion of the project.
Knowledge of product specifications/applications and understanding of Construction Documents is required. Project Designer must have the ability to guide the project through the design and construction process, from concept to completion. Client interaction and presentation skills are required, as is the ability to collect information and offer alternatives and solutions.
Overall, the Senior Project Designer reports to the Design Principal and the Studio Director. For project specific responsibilities, the Senior Designer reports to the Project Manager.
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:
Minimum 8 years' experience (commercial office interior design and tenant improvement experience highly desired)
Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree with experience
Certified Interior Designer (CA) and/or NCIDQ Certification or CA Architectural Registration preferred
LEED Professional Accreditation preferred
Proficiency with current commonly used computer tools and applications including CAD, (Photoshop or Illustrator, Sketch-up preferred), Word and Excel preferred
Customer service skills with internal and external customers
Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Develop project design criteria for various client types
Extensive knowledge of all areas of interior architecture and design
Ability to work on multiple projects of any size and/or complexity
Act as a design project leader
Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Directs, delegates and reviews the work of others
Understands and implements the Company's marketing plan
Direct and coordinate allied project consultants (i.e. lighting, graphics, A/V, others)
