LivingHomes are available in standard or customized configurations to builders, developers and individuals.

Job Summary:
We are seeking an Architect/Designer II with 5-7 years of residential design and construction experience.  Candidates should be team oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work on several projects at the same time, and be based in the Los Angeles area. Project experience with a strong emphasis in residential and modern design is preferred.  Knowledge of and experience with sustainable design is a big bonus.

Responsibilities Include:

  • The daily design and technical development of projects.
  • Executing construction documents from schematic phase through construction administration, including permitting.
  • Both working independently with minimal supervision and working well within a team, directing junior members and taking direction from senior staff.
  • Coordination of consultant drawings with Architectural and factory drawings.
  • Communications with clients and consultants.
  • Track LEED for Homes checklist for each project.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of residential construction, especially construction detailing for Type V construction.
  • Basic knowledge of residential building and zoning codes.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture.
  • Minimum of 5 years architectural office experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Illustrator, Photoshop minimum.
  • High proficiency in Revit, including office/project experience.
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Working knowledge of sustainable construction.
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills, with team members, clients and consultants.
  • An eye for detail and a desire to perform at a high level.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and responsibility for their work and actions.

Helpful Qualities and Experience:

  • A licensed California Architect.
  • LEED registration
  • Comfort with a small firm environment.
  • Knowledge of factory-built structures and transport.
  • Experience with construction cost estimating and/or construction management.
  • A strong desire to wed profit and purpose and a sense of humor.
