Charlap Hyman & Herrero is currently looking for a Senior Project Architect to join our team and help to build our practice in New York. Candidate must be able to take a large residential or small scale commercial project from start to finish autonomously, and candidate must be highly organized and comfortable taking on projects of various scales and various timelines at the same time. Experience with practice management, mentoring, and client communication is desired. Candidate must be an excellent designer and interested in the arts.
Charlap Hyman & Herrero is a Los Angeles / New York-based architecture and design firm that takes a fully integrated approach to conceptualizing and executing spaces in their totality. Principals Adam Charlap Hyman and Andre Herrero, whose backgrounds are in interior design and architecture, lead a practice that considers all aspects of the built environment, from site plan to furniture. Candidate must:
Have at least 8+ years of professional working experience
Have experience managing a small team of designers and a desire to mentor junior staff
Be able to participate in practice management and business development
Be able to run large residential and small commercial projects autonomously from start to finish
Be experienced with navigating NYC DOB and Landmarks permitting processes
Be extremely organized and detail-oriented across in all aspects of the role
Have a positive can-do attitude
Be an excellent critical and strategic thinker and agile problem solver
Be extremely professional and able to interface with clients
Have strong design skills, bring a unique perspective
Licensed Architect is a plus
Software requirements:
Revit - Extensive knowledge, residential and commercial drawing sets
AutoCAD - Extensive knowledge, ability to create clean and organized drawing sets using company standards (MUST)
Rhino3D - Ability to model 3D architecture models and furniture
Bluebeam Revu - Ability to efficiently communicate feedback internally and externally
Adobe InDesign - Ability to create client quality presentations for print and screen
Twinmotion - Ability to generate polished renderings
