CAD/BIM MANAGER

Works closely with Department Directors to establish and implement firm-wide CAD and BIM standards. 

Project Responsibilities / Tasks

  1. Clients and Consultants

  • Proficient understanding of G&A’s scope of work

  • Proficient understanding of consultants’ contracts / scope of work

  • Attends client meetings (virtual)

  • Participates in internal design workshops (virtual and/or in-person) as required

2. Design and Documentation

  • Works closely with Department Directors to establish firm-wide implementation of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and BIM (Building Information Modelling) standards
  • Assists project teams in BIM project setup in Vectorworks

  • Supports project standards ongoing coordination and clean-up

  • Helps resolve BIM design and workflow issues

  • Manages and distributes coordinated digital documents to the project team

  • Communicates with subcontractors to receive, coordinate, and update all electronic models

  • Understanding of data tags and production schedule automation

  • Fluency in documentation standards and practices

  • Working understanding of visualization standards and practices

  • Working understanding of architectural coordination issues 

  • Working understanding of design planning issues

  • Working understanding of storytelling techniques

3. Management: Design and Production

  • Fluency in project phases

  • Working understanding of ROM implementation costs information

  • Working understanding of exhibition implementation schedule

  • Leads coordination with Building and Exhibit systems

  • Reviews RFI’s, shop drawings & material submittals

  • Leads on-site observations and other documentation during the CA phase of work. 

  • Generates work plans throughout project phases

 4. Software Proficiency Requirements

  • Vectorworks (Fluent)

  • Revit (Working)

  • AutoCad (Working)

  • Rhino (Working)

  • Bluebeam Revu (Fluent)

  • Google Slides/ Google Sheets (Working)

Team Responsibilities / Tasks  

1. Recruiting / Hiring

  • Refers people in their professional network for jobs

  • Interviews candidates

  • Onboards new hires to the Team

2. Team Infrastructure

  • Implements strategic roadmap and implementation strategies for design technology

  • Iterates, and maintains adherence to the team’s application of processes, tools, and templates

  • Creates parametric objects

  • Develops training, standards, QA QC procedures, coordination mechanisms, automation tools, and content strategies

3. Professional Development

  • Proficient understanding of Situated Media / Universal Design / construction methodologies

  • Proficient understanding of all required team software and tools

  • Provides BIM Fundamental/Intermediate training and continuing education to staff

  • Creates, upgrades, and deploys strategies for the BIM implementation effort

  • Provides IT with hardware and network support as it relates to BIM production

  • Trains junior and senior designers on best practices

4. Marketing/External Development

  • Attends conferences, seminars, and workshops, bringing back learning and disseminating the information

  • Identifies trends and business opportunities
