M. Ziemke Architecture is a small architecture office founded by Marcus Ziemke in 2020. The firm focuses on high-end, single family residential architecture and design in New York City, the Hamptons, Connecticut, and elsewhere.  We have a number of exciting projects in the works, with more always in the pipeline, and so are seeking an ambitious architect to join our team, in the Flatiron District.

We are seeking an experienced architect with 4+ years of experience working in the high-end residential sector, who is interested in joining a small team (we're 7 strong, today), in a managerial capacity, working directly with the principal, as well as directly managing projects and collaborating with junior staff. 

Duties & responsibilities

  • Overall project management skills, client presentations and construction documentation 
  • Able to effectively delegate tasks to junior staff when/where applicable, as well as manage projects directly where needed
  • Strong time and workload management, able to jump between 2 or 3 projects, as needed

Skills & abilities

  • Professional degree in Architecture (BArch or Masters)
  • 4+ years of experience in high-end residential architecture
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
  • High level of attention to detail at every stage and scale
  • Strong design and drawing capabilities
  • Be able to communicate clearly and in a timely manner, as it pertains to internal operations or project management with clients, consultants, contractors, etc.
  • Substantial experience in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and SketchUp
  • Driven attitude with a desire to work in a small office environment
  • Be eligible to work in the US and be already located in the NYC area 

Work environment

  • The office works on Mac OS
  • Travel is required, mostly regional
  • M. Ziemke Architecture prioritizes a healthy work-life balance, with year-round half-day Fridays, and a relaxed but motivated work environment 
  • IDP hours can be approved, if required

Pay is commensurate with experience (All applicants will receive equal consideration for employment).
