MHAworks is looking to add a self-motivated, creative, and resourceful Project Architect to our growing team in Durham, NC. Our goal is to develop the next generation of designers and leaders, and we know the best way to do that is to continually work to assemble a team that encompasses as wide an array of experience as possible. We are looking for individuals who bring something new to the table while contributing to the high degree of service MHAworks has come to be known for throughout North Carolina.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 10 years related experience, with at least 5 as a licensed professional
  • Experience with Healthcare and/or Higher Education design
  • An informed understanding and experience with building envelope design and detailing
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards and building systems
  • Experience in construction administration, costing review and value engineering
  • A high comfort level working on concurrent projects of diverse scale and type in various stages of development
  • High proficiency with Revit
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A penchant for creative and collaborative problem-solving

Our ideal candidate can expect to:

  • Be responsible for clear and consistent communication between each branch of a project team, from drafters to consultants to the client.
  • Assist Project Managers in developing project scope, schedules, and fees
  • Plan, execute and deliver projects that meet the client’s budget and schedule by way of concept-based design processes
  • Produce drawings and specifications
  • Analyze and address technical and design issues with the project team to produce a constructable solution
  • Perform construction administration services to include on-site observations, processing of submittals/substitution requests, reviewing/approving payment applications and addressing RFIs
  • Work with local jurisdictions and permitting officials
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships
