As Director of Architecture, you would be responsible for overseeing high-quality, code-compliant architectural projects. You would leverage your experience in field conditions, building materials, specifications, construction techniques, as well as building codes and permitting to our team and their clients to success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as our in-house Architectural and Code Compliance expert:
    • Provide consistent, service-focused communication to all stakeholders throughout the design process
    • Strategically maintain architectural licensure in 40+ U.S. States
    • Lead and mentor construction, design, and technical teams to achieve project objectives
    • Evaluate design specifications and project plans to approve, or recommend changes in design
    • Assist with project programming, scope development, and project fee structures discussions
    • Conduct and/or assign the QA/QC of all deliverables
    • Sign and seal all architectural construction documents created by our company nationwide
  • Manage a subset of our clients:
    • Provide consistent, service-focused communication to all stakeholders throughout the design process
    • Act with a keen sense of urgency, as perceived by our clients
    • Serve as our company’s primary point of contact for designated clients
    • Deliver regular status updates to clients (at least one per week per project)
    • Conduct initial project intake and assign to staff
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of client design manuals and templates
    • Communicate client design changes to designers as they occur
    • Ensure the completion of projects on time, with a keen eye toward quality
  • Manage a team
    • Champions an organizational culture of collaboration, excellence, service, respect, inclusion, engagement, agility, and continuous improvement. Retains, engages, and develops staff.
    • Leads the performance and talent management for the team, including bi-annual written reviews and compensation reviews.
      • Assist in tracking and forecasting workload and use to determine future staffing needs
      • Assist in the recruitment process to identify high-quality candidates
      • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for assigned staff

Qualifications and Skills

To be considered, the resume of the applicant must show that the applicant possesses the following qualifications/skills:

  • Master's Degree in Architecture required
  • Active NCARB certification required
  • 3+ years of commercial design practice, production of construction documents, client management, and architectural/design team management
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong organization, inter-personal, and communication skills
