News Editor / Editorial Manager

We are beginning our search for a talented and experienced individual to fill a role for News Editor and Editorial Manager for Archinect's architecture-centric news division. We are seeking an individual passionately obsessed with architecture, with a specific focus on contemporary architects and industry issues. The successful candidate will be extremely responsible and driven, with a proven history of excelling in related work. 


  • Report architecture news quickly, thoroughly, and thoughtfully 
  • Research news stories, contact sources and dig out important details
  • Develop network of contacts to facilitate comprehensive coverage
  • Source material and confirm usage rights for media (images, video, etc.) 
  • Reformat/optimize media (images, gifs, video) as necessary, for the web
  • Edit and fact-check stories by members of the editorial team
  • Develop a close familiarity with the Archinect community and understand important issues to our community, along with the greater architecture community in general
  • Manage editorial team - assign tasks, set deadlines/quotas, manage schedules, assist as necessary


  • A degree in architecture OR a degree in another field with a deep passion and understanding of architecture
  • Thorough knowledge of key players in the architecture industry and important issues facing architects
  • A keen eye for high-quality architectural design, with an impressive list of favorite architects/buildings
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Very polite yet aggressive to track down contacts/facts to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Fluent in Photoshop, and basic HTML formatting
  • A sense of humor, with a complete understanding of when to use it editorially
  • Experience using social media both personally and professionally
  • Thorough familiarity with basic internet tools

This is an in-house position for our Pasadena office. If a qualified candidate is not local, financial relocation assistance may be provided.
