RYA seeks a talented Junior/Intermediate Architectural Designer with significant experience managing complex, high-end, modern residential and hospitality projects specifically on the East End of Long Island and New York City.  RYA attracts people who share our vision of a humane architecture underpinned by the study of space, light, material richness, someone who loves the craft of making things. We are looking for someone who is creative, responsible, organized, and deeply committed to follow through. As all our team members are involved creatively throughout design and construction, RYA values well rounded professionals who embrace the maddening but ultimately rewarding brew of uncompromising design vision and the pragmatic real world thinking required to get things built.


  • Minimum 3-5 consecutive years’ relevant experience (post grad)


  • Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills

  • Ability to work self-sufficiently to develop design and construction documents on multiple projects at once

  • Well developed conceptual and design skills and the ability to create compelling graphic presentations

  • High level of proficiency with Autocad for 2D document production 

  • High level of proficiency with Sketchup, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, for 2D and 3D presentations and renderings.

  • Experience working with NYC and East End building and zoning codes

  • Familiarity with construction techniques, building science, and trade ecosystem for both NYC and the East End.

  • Experience in all phases from Conceptual Design through Construction Administration

  • English language fluency.

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for employee sponsorship
