Position:                   Senior Project Manager

Reports To:             Architectural Studio Manager and Principals

Supervises:             Project team members


  • Responsible for the progress and the completion of design, design development, construction documents and construction services of assigned projects.
  • Responsible for assisting in establishing budgets for new projects and additional service requests. Responsible for overseeing that project teams achieve their direct labor goals.
  • Responsible for the process of producing documents that apply office standards, formats and procedures, governing codes and regulations, current standards of construction and to perform related duties requested of him/her within budgetary and schedule constraints.
  • Responsible for managing and continuously monitoring project scope, schedule, budget, and fees in accordance with established procedures.
  • Responsible for directing project teams and coordination with clients and consultants through all phases of work. In addition; shall be responsible for all documented correspondence related to assigned projects.
  • Responsible for carefully reviewing all documents for discovery, resolution and correction of design, building code and construction detailing before they are released to client and for construction, to minimize legal risks and maximize protection of the firm as well as our client. Deficiencies shall be brought to attention of the Architectural Studio Manager or assigned supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the attainment of a consistently high level of quality and quantity work.
  • Responsible for marketing repeat clients by providing quality service and monitoring the quality of services.
  • Responsible for maintaining good long term client relations by spending quality time with them.
  • Promote and expand the use of Revit as a tool in the development of construction documents, implementation of the production standards and procedures.
  • Continuously inform the Architectural Studio Manager and Principals of project status and be prepared to provide alternatives and the means to maintain projects on schedule and within budget in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Architectural Studio Manager and Principals with various administrative/management/business functions.  Such as; cash collections, personnel issues and the planning and administration of corporate goals.
  • Assist the Architectural Studio Manager and Principals in the analysis and introduction of new procedures to the Architecture Studio staff and any suggestions to the design department.
  • Assist the Architectural Studio Manager and Principals with recommendations regarding job assignments, performance evaluations and the search and interview of new applicants.
  • Is expected to conduct himself/herself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Is expected to adhere to all office policies
  • Is expected to promote a positive office environment and maintain high morale among the staff.
  • Is expected to assume the responsibilities of the Architectural Studio Manager in their absence.
  • Is expected to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Is expected to train, educate and grow staff under his/her supervision.
  • Should be prepared to attend and contribute in client and client/consultant meetings or site visits.
  • Should be prepared to attend public hearings and make presentations.
  • Should not expect to “make decisions” regarding department policy, performance evaluations and budgets, but should be prepared to “make recommendations” when requested.


Bachelor of Architecture (accredited 5 year) preferred, or Bachelor of Science in Architecture (4 year).

NCARB Licensed Architect in the State of California preferred, or actively participating in the completion of Architectural Licensing Examination process.



Minimum ten (10) years of office experience, client and consultant contact, construction experience, building department exposure, code knowledge, and personnel management (team coordination).

Experienced in high and low density multifamily and single-family residential, community, commercial, structured parking and retail projects. Project experience shall include V, III, II and I construction types with a solid understanding and architectural development proficiency of related SMEP systems.

Evaluation of candidates for this position shall be based on interviews, professional references and work presented.
