The primary duties of the Project Architect are to perform layout and detailing on architectural projects which will require production/design experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications. The candidate should be a design oriented technical architect with strong design and graphic skills. They will independently coordinate the work of a multi-disciplined team throughout the design development and contract document phases of a project and establish client and internal meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. Other duties will include: conducting design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with Project Manager and other disciplines, coordinating workload through design development and construction document phases to complete documents on schedule, reviewing architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines, writing/editing architectural specifications, working directly with owners and their legal staff to establish and document the legal parameters of the construction contract, coordinating and assisting with any addendum, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, incorporating agreed upon changes into the project documents, and providing, on an as needed basis, construction contract administration. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required.
5+ years of experience is required. Previous experience with institutional projects is required; previous experience with Science + Technology and/or Healthcare strongly preferred.
Registered Architect or able to obtain registration within 6 months required.
Revit experience required.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills.
Excellent written and communication skills.
Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required.
