Project Design Director, New Development

The Project Design Director will report to the Managing Director and is responsible for the design direction, concept creation and design presentations of new developments and is integral to the successful execution of TOWN’s vision. This is a leadership role that will manage relationships with  external and internal partners throughout projects. 


  • Responsible for  New Development architectural and interior design narratives
  • Oversees the project management of New Development architectural needs in collaboration with developers, outside architects, engineers, interior designers, city agencies, and various partners
  • Creation of New Development presentation materials
  • Participation in New Development presentations
  • Coordinates and aligns internal project team with other TOWN departments as needed, acting as a group leader to plan and prioritize project needs and work flow
  • Will act as a primary client contact keeping all principals aware of project status
  •  Continued interest and research of design and architectural styles, staying informed of new developments and trends


  • Must be a Registered Architect
  • 7-10 years experience
  • Strong presentation skills with an ability to speak knowledgeably and credibly to a variety of outside partners: investors, developers, designers
  • Excellent knowledge of NYC DOB and LPC codes and regulations
  • Must have zoning analysis experience
  • Deep experience developing floor plans; strong emphasis on space allocation
  • Knowledge and experience with HVAC systems
  • Experience with facades and exterior restoration
  • Strong sense of aesthetic and knowledge and attention to finishes
