Urbanization and street vendors and activity work symbiotically.a new Stimuli of Urban dynamics that effectively creating public gathering spaces of different dimensions, types and forms for a long time which cannot be compared or even classified with other public space. These activities seem trivial, but what they show is a demand to use space, which can be seen as a new form of urban citizenship including blurring of boundaries between different class group leads to new ways of conceptualizing these activities. These micro entrepreneurs actually help to restructure and revitalized our city with the help of minimal resources also contributes in the social process by increasing the interaction between people.
In their best possible form, street vendors might do some of the things you say. But that’s only if they are selling things people want to buy or offering something people want to eat. The guy who sells shitty t-shirts at my subways stop every morning is in no way, shape or form restructuring and revitalizing the city.
Without a willingness on the part of the people to interact with the vendors their presence and impact become insignificant.
These are very broad claims you are making, but I can understand were you are coming from. I really wish street vendors did what you claim they do, but in reality I think it is a lot less of catalyst then you make it out to be.
compare a street in USA, Europe & india...which one do u think is more socially interactive,lively? think cumulatively rather then individually... its in d way how u perceive things is wht makes d difference...
