I am a young aspiring architect from Northern New Mexico. I have had employment opportunities at firms ranging from small (2-4) to midsized (50-70). I have been a team member on various project types, from home remodels to large scale civic additions/modernizations. Throughout my schooling, I have gained a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. Within the field of architecture, I have a passion for earthen architecture and digital fabrication. Outside the profession, I thoroughly enjoy gardening, learning to cook traditional New Mexican cuisine, being outdoors, and spending time with my family.
University of Washington, Seattle, Teaching Assistant
I provided in-class and office hours, technical support to assist students with 2D drafting, 3D modeling, rendering, and parametric design. The course focused on AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, and Lumion.
BLRB Architects, Tacoma, WA, US, Junior Architectural and Landscape Designer
I collaborated on the design documentation phase of a middle school addition/
modernization in Astoria, Oregon. Utilized SketchUp, Revit, and Enscape to model design iterations, document building progress, produce drawing sets, and generate perspective renderings. My design contributions included detailing the primary stairs, a schematic design for the central entrance landscape, and a learning courtyard containing a material and plant palette while considering on-site water collection. Technical tasks included redline edits, Revit/SketchUp modeling, DD set coordination, graphics, and hand sketches.
Masterson Studio LLC, Seattle, WA, US, Architectural Intern
Updated and re-designed firm website, constructed physical architectural models using hand-cut and 3D printed components, performed site documentation for a mixed-use addition/renovation project, and as-built drawings. The programs I utilized included AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop.
The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, US, Fabricator
As a 4th year student at UNM, I participated in the fabrication and installation of a long-term museum exhibit. Our team applied Rhino 3D, CNC routing, plasma cutting, and water jet cutting technology for this project. My tasks comprised organizing and preparing the 3-D model into vector cut files, operating the CNC cutting tables, and fabrication.
Woods Design Builders, Santa Fe, NM, US, Summer Intern
I constructed architectural models based on design documentation sets for a custom
family cabin retreat home—the physical models assisted in permitting and construction
purposes.
The University of Washington, Seattle, WA, US, MArch, Architecture + Landscape Architecture
As a dual-degree master's candidate for architecture and landscape architecture, I participated in studios focused on housing, ecology, and equity in the urban built environments. I had the opportunity to participate in two study abroad studios, Scan-Design, and Architecture in Mexico City. Both courses explored urban relationships between housing, stormwater management, public spaces, multi-modal transportation, and their effects on equity and social structures in the built environment. I was employed as a shop staff assistant at the school's FABLAB and a teaching assistant for multiple courses.
The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, US, BArch, Architecture + Community and Regional Planning
At the University of New Mexico, I received my Bachelors of Arts in architecture and a Minor in Community and Regional Planning. Through my Minor, I was able to focus on planning issues regarding Hispanic and Native American communities. I served as a member of our local AIAS Chapter, where I served as a student liaison to our board and assisted in recruiting students and organizing events. I also participated in student-organized design clubs such as Freedom by Design and Installations Committee, as a member and Co-Director. In my final years, my interest in digital fabrication led to me become one of four student fabricators to construct and install a long-term exhibit at the International Balloon Museum in Albuquerque, dubbed the Weather Lab Exhibit.
