This position requires 4 days in office and candidates must reside within the NYC metro. 

The Job Captain will manage and support the development and delivery of architectural projects ranging from small to midsize to large. They will be responsible for the simultaneous coordination of multiple projects and tasks under the direction of a Project Manager or Studio Director and will delegate tasks among support staff and consultants. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Perform drafting and presentation work
  • Interpret design direction into sketches, drawings & 3D models.
  • Coordinate materials and color palettes needed for client presentations
  • Develop sketch details into construction documents and assemble detail sheets
  • Prepare and process construction documents through plan check
  • Develop project schedules and budgets
  • Consult technical handbooks and guidelines and assist in landlord research
  • Ability to interpret and apply state and local code compliances
  • Prepare documents for project authorization and management of bidding processes
  • Maintain accessible hard copies and electronic files and records of survey office reports
  • Execute site surveys on a need basis
  • Interaction with consultants, engineers, and vendors
  • Ensure compliance with all architectural guidelines and standards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Architecture or related field
  • 4+ years of relevant experience working on multiple Architectural projects
  • Ability to interpret construction data, engineering calculations, and specifications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, Photoshop & InDesign are required
  • Basic knowledge of Revit and SketchUp preferred
  • Experience drafting construction documents is required

Supervisory Responsibility: 
This is not a supervisory position. This role will work collaboratively with positions in the same or different departments.

Work Environment: 
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job is in an open space office environment with considerable background noise and disturbances. 

Physical Demands: 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role. This role would require the ability to lift and organize materials, and files, open filing cabinets and occasionally bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Other regular physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, stooping, repetitive motion, lifting not more than 15 pounds, reaching, and typing. 

Office Hours:
General business hours are  Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Flexibility in schedule is required based on business needs.

Travel: 
There is minimal travel required for this position.
