The Epiphany, originally named Casa Olga and permitted as a hotel in 1971, has been renovated into an 86-room, four-star, high-tech, boutique hotel. The vision for the transformation, borne from an ideation process facilitated by global design firm IDEO, was to capture the spirit of Palo Alto—curious, optimistic, entrepreneurial, tapped in and vital. By using raw, rustic and natural materials, Steinberg Hart imbedded in the aesthetic and material choices for the building the region’s commitment to sustainability. The renovation includes voluntary seismic upgrades, an exterior skin renovation, conversion of the first floor into a lobby and 24-hour restaurant with back-of-house functions, and the addition of eight guest rooms on the eighth floor.
