During the course of her undergraduate and graduate studies, Sowmya has worked on several projects in residential, institutional and industrial domains. In addition to working as project architect and an intern, she gained hands on experience building arches, vaults and domes at the Auroville Earth Institute, Pondicherry.
She believes that architecture holds the potential to strengthen connections between people and places and is primarily a medium to engage with the environment. She feels that this connection is essential to create places that are deeply engaging, highly associative and immensely vibrant.
Her current interests include architectural presentation; design diagramming, design of public places and social advancement through design. She is extremely passionate about graphic design, music and all things kitsch. An avid reader, she runs a reader’s cafe in her parallel universe.
