Public Bath House

Through analysis of several precedent buildings such as Christian Kerez’s Swiss Re Next and Preston Scott Cohen’s Eyebeam Competition Entry, we utilized the repeated datum apparent in both projects that is manipulated by oblique tubes. Using programmatic boxes that we stacked and manipulated to create a figural void, the oblique tubes snake through this space, encouraging cross circulation. This mixed use building of a contemporary bathhouse, boutique hotel, shops, restaurant and athletic center distributes the program with the intentions of making the bath a spectacle while also encouraging the interactions of multiple programs. These spatial conditions work to manifest the free-section.
