Jeffrey Kipnis: "Who is Moss?"

Intro by Thom Mayne

Tuesday, March 6, 7pm in the W.M. Keck Lecture Hall (watch it live at www.sciarc.edu/live)

Architectural theorist Jeffrey Kipnis, professor of architectural design and theory at the Ohio State Knowlton School of Architecture, has been working on a close reading of SCI-Arc Director Eric Owen Moss' restory with his students at Ohio State and will present their conclusions to the SCI-Arc community.

In Kipnis' own words: “The lecture would neither be a hagiography nor a history nor a biography, but a reading of the work of Eric Owen Moss in terms of the relationship between the individual and the body politic that underwrites the work and its development over the years."

About Jeffrey Kipnis
For more than two decades Jeffrey Kipnis’s work has shaped the thinking, imagination and creative work of architects and critics. From seminal studies of the work of such key practitioners as Philip Johnson, Peter Eisenman, Rem Koolhaas and Daniel Libeskind, to theoretical reflections on the intellectual, cultural and political role of contemporary architecture in such essays as Toward a New Architecture,Twisting the Separatrix and Political Space I, to his award-winning film on the work of Frank Gehry, to exhibitions on architectural drawing and design, Kipnis has brought a restless, generous and provocative originality to bear on the issues that have defined contemporary architecture.
