Carlos Jiménez, the fall 2021 Ruth & Norman Moore Visiting Professor of Architecture, will deliver a public lecture titled Some reflections and recent works.

Jiménez established Carlos Jiménez Studio in 1983. His built works include: the Central Administration and Junior School for the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Spencer Studio Art Building at Williams College, Irwin Mortgage Corporate Headquarters, the Cummins Child Development Center, Peeler Art Center at DePauw University, Crowley House in Marfa, Rice University Library Service Center and Data Center, Tyler School of Art at Temple University, the Centre Urbain in Evry France, Hotel Saint George in Marfa Texas, and Won Buddhism of Houston.

Jiménez has received numerous awards for excellence in design and teaching from Architectural Record, the American Institute of Architects, Rice University, Design Intelligence, the Chicago Athenaeum, ArchitectureProgressive Architecture, and the Architectural League of New York, among others. His work has been published in numerous architectural journals, dedicated monographs, and authored books such as Carlos Jiménez (Barcelona 1991), Carlos Jiménez Buildings (New York 1996), 2-G Carlos Jiménez (Barcelona 2000), Carlos Jiménez House and Studio (Cambridge 2003), Crowley (Singapore 2009), Carlos Jiménez Textos sobre Docencia (Valencia 2014), and Carlos Jiménez: 30 Years, 30 Works (AV 196, Madrid 2017).

Jiménez has been a tenured professor at Rice University School of Architecture since 2000, and is currently serving as the Ruth and Norman Moore Visiting Professor of Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis. He has also taught at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), Texas A&M University, University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California at Berkeley, University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain), Williams College, Tulane University, University of Houston, Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Oregon. Jiménez is a frequent lecturer, critic, and jury member at national and international architecture events, and served on the jury of the Pritzker Architecture Prize from 2001-2011.
