NEW MARIN COUNTY HILLSIDE RESIDENCE

This new home was built on a very tricky hillside lot with an unobstructed view of Mt. Tamalpais to the south. There aren't many flat sites left in the area, so foundations have to be elaborate and expensive.

Tieback retaining wall the garage.

The site and the layout of the building required the use of concrete drilled piers and grade beams, slabs, cantilevered retaining walls, and a shotcrete tieback wall.

Foundation plan furthest downhill. Detail 1 shows a new cantilevered drilled pier retaining wall at a new streetside parking area required by the city.
