An urban designer, architect and an urban planner, Rahul has consultancy experience in Canada, Middle East, India and Singapore. He has cumulative experience of over nine years which ranges from architecture, urban generation, transit supported design, planning for new communities, campus master planning and urban waterfront projects.

Rahul’s approach to professional practice is based on understanding of city as a social and the built entity, where the built through its constant iterative process of design and planning provides opportunity to create meaningful, democratic and vibrant places. He brings to his work, skills in establishing these ‘places’.

In 2011, he co-founded 4Cities Collaborative, a design and planning consultancy based in New Delhi, India. Prior to establishing 4 Cities, he worked on multi-layered, complex master planning and architectural projects in varied urban and cultural contexts across the world.

As the design partner of 4Cities, Rahul is responsible for urban design strategies for ongoing projects. His expertise lies in project visioning, planning rationale, capacity analysis, urban form and structure. His area of interest consists of campus master planning, transit supported design and urban regeneration. He is currently working on capacity analysis for a TOD site for the Delhi Development Authority. In addition, he is drafting a public realm strategy for a station area influence zone in city of Gurgaon, India.

KEO International Consultants, Abu Dhabi, AE, Urban Designer/Urban Planner

As a member of the Strategy Planning and Urban Development team at KEO, Rahul in his capacity as an urban planner and designer acted as the link between planning and design. He was involved in drafting urban design strategies for urban infill for Silla in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, writing design guidelines for new development across the western regions of Abu Dhabi and was the project manager for a mixed use development in the city of Mina Amrit, Syria in 2011.

Urban Stratagies Inc, Toronto, ON, CA, Urban Designer

As an urban designer at Urban Strategies, Rahul was involved in a wide range of planning and design related projects. As a member of the wining team for Greater Singapore Waterfront development, he played a role in creating guidelines for sustainable infrastructure systems for stage I and was part of the design team for stage II.

He assisted in phasing strategy Markham mobility hub development in GTA. As the urban designer for a high priority mixed use and transit oriented development in Ottawa, he was in charge of capacity analysis and urban design typology for the project.

Abaxial Architects, Delhi, IN, Architect

In his capacity as an architect and later as an associate, Rahul worked on various residential and institutional projects across India. In addition, he also worked on a number of urban design projects which included civic infrastructure and public realm design. He was involved in the Bhuj Earthquake Rehabilitation project where Abaxial was responsible for the design and execution of 1500 low-cost houses for victims of the event.
