Wooster Loft

The renovation of the loft space is located in the former silk goods district on the border between Soho and Tribeca in a very well crafted brick and wood structure building.  The former industrial loft will be converted into a residence for an art dealer and collector.  The floor plan has been conceived as a progression of disintegration of the partition walls.  From the back of the apartment where the private rooms are located to the public and semi-public areas, the cuts on the ceiling trace the memory of an existing partition wall giving the impression of an ideal programmatic division of the the open space by creating a main curvilinear and organic shaped path.  The corners of the space have been reconfigured eliminating most ninety degree angles.  In the new acquired fluidity of the floor plan we are adding perforated and back lit surfaces like connective tissue or membranes that function as elements of communication between the different programmatic spaces.
