Darden Architects, Inc., Fresno, CA, US, Marketing Manager

There are a number of elements involved in marketing the firm. Firstly, we identify potential projects. This includes attending conferences, regional events, and generally getting involved in our community. We read the news, trade publications, and monitor social media. Most importantly, we make relationships with potential clients whenever possible. Once a lead had been identified, we may offer consultative services, attend public planning meetings, or simply meet with the client to discuss the forthcoming project. More than likely the owner will release a Request for Qualifications/Proposal (RFQ/P) to provide services related to the project. Darden Architects will read the RFQ/P and determine if we are going to pursue the project. We consider compensation, owner relationship, our past experience with the project type, geographic area, available staff resources, potential liability issues, and other factors. If so, the proposed project team will be put together, including sub consulting engineering firms. The response to the RFQ is written and submitted. This document responds to specific questions in the RFQ/P related to our firm’s qualifications, relevant experience, and capacity. If our firm is shortlisted for the project, we will gather key members of the project team and interview in-person with the owner’s selection committee. This includes preparation of various types of presentation materials and content. If the firm is selected, we begin the contracting process to reach an agreement to provide services with terms and conditions, including compensation, that is fair and reasonable to both the Owner and Architect. Once a prime contract is reached, we contract with the necessary sub consulting firms to provide services for the project. At this point the marketing process is concluded and project management begins.

Other responsibilities include: Public relations, Social media and blog, Website, E-Newsletter, Graphic Design and layout, Design-award submittals, Firm recruiting, Public speaking, Office culture event planning.
