The general requirements for this project was to develop a mutli-use facility for the Gowanus Dredgers a boating community. This building needed to contain boat storage, teaching studio's, general community rooms and gallery space to create a museum to show case their history and accomplishments.

The concept of this project is based on feeling the space around you and feeling small in the greatness of open waters. I tried to portray this in the building by utilizing open spaces floor to floor through the center of the building. Giving the visitor an overall feeling of space and scale if they are standing on the bottom floor. Also by looking up through the undulating floors it gives a sense of movement emphasizing the water aspect of the boathouse.
